Distington Community Flower Festival

We ran an introduction to Floristry course in partnership with Action for Children and Distington Club for Young People. The 10 week course ended in a fundraising Flower Festival. Each learner produced a themed arrangement of their choice, considering the style of arrangement, colour and type of flowers / foliage. They could also use ribbon and props to create the desired effect. The results were outstanding and surpassed all of my expectations. The day was very well attended by the local community – the local police, doctor, our very own REM Julie Ballantyne and residents came throughout the day and many children came in on their way home from school. Local crafters had stalls and refreshments were sold. The ‘Knit and Natter’ group  also came to see what we had learnt. It was an excellent community day and has led onto other craft and sewing based courses for this creative group.
